Loose Women's Jane Moore fires dig at Denise Welch in heated Prince Harry clash

Jane Moore told Denise Welch she 'should have stayed on the run' as the Geordie star returned to Loose Women for the first time, following a stint on Celebrity Hunted and got embroiled in a heated debate with her close friend and colleague over Prince Harry.

Denise announced on her 65th birthday that she and husband Lincoln Townley were going on a 'little adventure' with it then being revealed that they'd be among the famous fugitives for hit Channel 4 show Hunted's latest showbiz spin-off series, in aid of charity. Having been absent from social media for a number of weeks, Denise returned to Instagram a few days ago to confirm that her time on Celebrity Hunted come to an end.

Having been sworn to secrecy on just how she and Lincoln's Celebrity Hunted journey panned out, Denise was left panicked seconds into her return to Loose Women on Thursday, when co-star Linda Robson threatened to spill the beans. Thankfully she didn't and talk then turned to Prince Harry's highly publicised trial and Denise's thoughts on it, having been a long standing supporter of Harry and wife Meghan Markle

On countless occasions in the past, Denise has staunchly defended the couple, often getting into arguments with her Loose Women colleagues over their opposing views and this time proved to be no different, as she locked horns with journalist Jane over the media's overall treatment of Harry and Meghan and the allegations that Harry's phone was hacked.

Giving her point of view, Denise said: "The mainstream media are absolutely vile and disgusting and toxic towards that couple," with Jane replying: "There has been elements of that, but I think, in the beginning, I don't agree with that at all," forcing Denise to fire back: "I don't know how you can disagree with it."

Jane went onto discuss the 'burden of proof' required in cases like Harry's, to which Denise responded: "He just has to prove that one did and I'm pretty sure it did. Everybody knows what happened."

Standing firm on her stance, Jane responded: "That's not the point of a court case. You have to be able to prove something in court; a court is not a place to vent your...hold a press conference by all means, everybody would turn up to his press conference. Start a campaign.." as Denise interrupted to ask: "Do you believe his phone was hacked?"

As Jane replied: "I don't know," Denise moaned: "And that's a journalist's view point." Taken aback by Denise's reply, Jane remarked: "We've been close friends for 30 years, do you trust me?" to which Denise told her: "I trust you implicitly but not many of your colleagues," prompting the audience to gasp at her scathing comeback.

Trying to smooth things over, host Charlene White quipped: "It's safe to say, Denise is back," as Jane then added: "You should have stayed on the run!"
