Denise Welch took a very public stand 'against' King Charles on Monday's Loose Women, declaring she, rather than pledge allegiance to the new monarch, was supporting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
In the lead up to the historic event, a lot has been made about Prince Harry's attendance at his father's Coronation and the fact that wife Meghan won't be attending, with her instead staying back in America with the couple's children.
By the time Loose Women came to air on Monday lunchtime for a unexpected extended episode, there were just four days to go before King Charles III's big moment and host Ruth Langsford was keen to get her ITV colleagues opinions on how they were feeling about it and particularly whether they would be taking the suggested pledge of allegiance.
On Coronation day, Saturday, May 6, the public will be invited by Archbishop Justin Welby to join in the pledge from home and say: 'I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.'

One person who will definitely not be taking the pledge is Denise, who, when asked by Ruth for her thoughts, sarcastically quipped: "What do you think?" before saying: "Listen, I've got nothing against the Royal Family; however, of late, I am pledging allegiance, if any, to Harry and Meghan. Because of that, I won’t be pledging my allegiance. I don’t even know what you’re pledging for.
She added: "‘I am loyal and would pledge my allegiance to my family, and that’s all. I think it’s very outdated. I’m just not a fan of what’s going on at the moment… I wish them all the best in their king and queen-ness."
Denise's sentiments were echoed both by colleague Brenda Edwards and the studio audience, with just one person in the crowd raising their hand to say they would be taking the pledge of allegiance for King Charles.
