Denise Welch has hit back at online critics who called her new role on Loose Women a "waste of money." Welch, a Loose Women regular for over a decade now, has been travelling to LA to give viewers a taste of the Hollywood glamour.
Geordie actress Denise has been a regular on the ITV lunchtime show for decades, juggling her appearances on the panel with on screen jobs in the likes of Boy Meets Girl and Hollyoaks, while also taking to the stage in Calendar Girls and The Water Babies. If you follow her on Instagram, you will know that Denise recently spent some time in America, visiting her godparents and enjoying an unexpected reunion with an actor who played one of her pupils in Waterloo Road.
Denise's Stateside jaunt also saw her meet Kyle Richards' daughters Farrah and Alexia, stars of The Real Housewives of Beverley Hills and LA based real estate agents. And, as well as being starstruck at meeting the women, Denise also had a job too and all was revealed on Loose Women earlier this week when viewers saw Denise try to become a real estate agent herself, as seen in The Chronicle.

While plenty of fans loved Denise's report, in the same show dance hall legend Sean Paul was a surprise guest, one viewer, with a Twitter username including the word 'Sunshine', was far from impressed. They vented their disapproval online, writing: "Can I ask who footed the bill to fly Denise to LA to walk round posh gaffs chatting tripe?
"What a waste of money and, as for This is, what they would do if they weren’t on LW, well correct me if I’m wrong but Ruth & Jane are journalists, Linda & Denise are actresses." The scathing reaction didn't go unnoticed by Denise herself, who shot back: "Hi Jenny. Perhaps you’d like to change your Twitter handle."
Another viewer took exception to Denise talking about her late dad Vin, who passed away last year, tweeting: "Denise squelch show again mentioned the dad already... waiting for the rest of the ticklist Lincoln Matty mental health blah blah blah." To which Denise responded: "Think I got a hat trick today. Lovely of you to show such support and hope you get the same."
And when someone else questioned her mentioning her husband Lincoln Townley, she retorted: "Because I’m married to him. How would you like me to refer to him???"
