Loose Women's Coleen Nolan shares alarming Jimmy Savile invite from her past

Coleen Nolan alarmed her Loose Women co-stars by sharing that disgraced TV host Jimmy Savile once invited her to his hotel room, when she was just 14-years-old.

For decades Savile was regarded as a national treasure, thanks to hosting high profile BBC shows like Top of the Pops and Jim'll Fix It an raising huge sums of money for charity. He was a close confidante of Prince Charles, while Margaret Thatcher famously pushed for him to be given a knighthood during her time as Prime Minister. However, after his death in 2011, hundreds of allegations soon came to light about Saville abusing minors, including vulnerable children in hospitals, over a time period that spanned five decades.

Savile is now the subject of two part Netflix documentary A British Horror Story, which after its release last week, quickly became the most watched show on the streaming service in the UK. At he height of Savile's TV fame, Coleen was enjoying chart success as the youngest member of family band The Nolans, who were regulars on Top of the Pops; although, at 14, she was too young to go on.

And on Tuesday's Loose Women, Coleen told co-stars Jane Moore, Denise Welch and Katie Piper that she never wanted to be go to the show if Savile was hosting it, as she always found him 'creepy.' Prompting her to go further, Denise asked: "He tried to get you to go back with him?"

Coleen replied: "It's difficult for me to talk about that scenario as I had with him, as it's nothing compared to what he did to those victims." Interrupting, Denise told her: "But it could have been Coleen had you gone.

Coleen added: "I was 14 and my sisters were appearing on Top of the Pops and I was too young at that stage. He asked could I stand on the podium with him to introduce them and then, once they'd done their bit, he said to me: 'Where do you live now?' And I said I was still in Blackpool to which he said: 'I'm there next week and I've got a suite at a hotel, you should come and visit me.

"But nothing happened, didn't go and I thought he was a creep. But he was one of them. We'd meet him and he'd take your hand to kiss your hand and he'd lick your hand."
