Brenda Edwards has given an emotional interview with Loose Women following the tragic death of her son. The star is scheduled to return to the panel on Tuesday, April 26 and in a pre-recorded interview with Coleen Nolan shown on Monday's edition she said she's “desperate to come back to work".
Music mogul Jamal Edwards passed away in February at the age of just 31 following a heart attack. A day prior to his death, he had been DJing at an event in North London.
“I’m doing okay," Brenda told Coleen. "I’m taking each day as it comes. The one thing I want to say is that I was with him and his sister was with us. It was sudden and unexpected when he went into cardiac arrest. I get a little bit of comfort knowing I was with him. As much as it was comfort, it’s an image I’ll never forget.”

She added that the response from the general public was "overwhelming". Brenda said: "As much as it was hard, it has helped to carry on his memory.” Jamal, who's best known for founding music platform SB.TV, had left clear messages to his mother to help carry on his life's work. Since his passing, Brenda has set up the Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust. According to Brenda, the Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust was launched to “honour [Edwards’] memory and continue his legacy”. She also describes how they are also looking to set up a homeless sanctuary in Jamal's name.
In her first interview following Jamal’s death, Brenda thanked the Loose Women team for being “at the end of the phone”. She also described how the show was as much a part of Jamal’s life as it was for her. In the emotional interview, Coleen praised Brenda for her strength following Jamal’s loss. Looking to the future, Brenda thanked the Loose Women team for their support but said: "I need to return".
Brenda first joined Loose Women in 2019. She shot to fame following her appearance on the second series of The X Factor. Mentored by Sharon Osbourne on the show, she has gone on to become a regular presenter on Songs of Praise alongside a successful career in musicals.
Following Jamal's death, there has been an outpouring of love for the founder of SB.TV. Pricne Charles, the founder of the Prince’s Trust, has previously said: “His work in music but also as an ambassador for a new generation, including his work for The Prince’s Trust, were an inspiration to so many.”
