Loose Women's Andrea McLean returns to ITV show one year after quitting

Loose Women welcomed Andrea McLean back to the show today after she quit 15 months ago.

Ruth Langsford took the helm of the ITV talk show today, as she was joined by Coleen Nolan, Katie Piper and Kéllé Bryan on the panel. She announced that they had a very special guest.

The presenter introduced Andrea's return as she said: "Today's guest is no stranger to us, or you at home actually. She spent 13 years and over 1,400 lunch times sitting right here at this desk."

Andrea McLean then appeared on the show. She previously announced she wanted to leave the show in 2020 as she said she wanted to "be brave and take chances."

Today, she returned to talk about what life after Loose was like for her. Since departing from the show, she has gone on to write a book called' You Just Need to Believe It' as she chases her 'dream career'.

She said: "It feels really nice actually being a passenger on the bus and not the driver." Ruth added: "It's quite an odd experience, isn't it?" Andrea replied: "It's a bit out of body but it's so nice."

Ruth reminded her that the last time viewers saw her on the set she had been very emotional. She added: "It was your decision to go. Was it brave now that you've done it?"

Andrea replied: "Yes. At the time so many people were saying oh what a brave thing to do. Or more like what a stupid thing to do - it was the middle of the pandemic and I was quitting my job to follow a dream. But yeah, I look back on it now and think it was a brave decision. I needed to jump and see if I could fly. I'm so glad I did."

Ruth said: "We miss you here but you haven't shut the door completely have you? On television or Loose Women?" Andrea replied: "Never, no" as she shook her head.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
