Loose Women cut short and 'taken off air' as Ruth Langsford shares explanation after coming under fire

Loose Women fans will see some disruption to their viewing this week after the show was taken off air earlier on Tuesday (June 20). Ruth Langsford was back leading the panel for the second edition of the ITV show this week alongside Coleen Nolan, Frankie Bridge and Janet Street-Porter.

Kicking off the show following on from some teaser appearance on This Morning to share what was coming up on the show, Ruth said: "Thank you very much, you're very welcome and welcome to you at home. This is your Tuesday and it's nice to have your company."

It was then she confirmed that there would be no messing around on the show together and that they had to get straight to it as they were on limited time compared to usual.

"We're going to keep it short and sweet for you today," Ruth added before explaining: "It's just a 30-minute show. We've got a lot to pack in so we better get on with it."

The usual hour-long edition of Loose Women was cut short today and will be for the rest of the week, as they were forced to make way for the news at 1pm instead of the usual time of 1.30pm, due to the Royal Ascot, with coverage kicking off on ITV from 1.30pm today.

But the shortened show comes after Ruth came under fire from viewers following Monday's show (June 19). The presenter and her fellow panellists had welcomed MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace onto the lunchtime programme for a chat in which he discussed his weight loss and gave an update on his son, Syd, who has autism.

But as they chatted away, it appears the group had ran out of time when it came to talking about his weight which meant Ruth had to tell Gregg he had “three seconds” to quickly mention his health and fitness journey that has been wowing his fans and followers.

And viewers couldn’t understand why Gregg’s interview was so "rushed" and flocked to social media to complain. "Loose Women always cut off their guests maybe put them on first," one viewer wrote on Twitter, the Mirror reports, after Gregg's interview came to an abrupt end. Another asked: "Why was Gregg just cut off like that?"
