Look inside the most expensive homes on Merseyside

The ECHO has taken a look inside the five most expensive houses currently up for grabs on Merseyside.

Costing upwards of £1.85m, these top of the range properties feature luxury touches such as pools, cinema rooms and in-house gyms.

The most expensive house currently on the market is in Caldy on the Wirral and really lives up to its £3.75m price tag.

Caldy is one of the region's millionaire's playgrounds, with vast mansions home to local celebrities and footballers, including the likes of Robbie Fowler and ex-Everton and Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.

This home on Thorsway, known as Rock Mount, benefits from its position on an elevated plot of private land. The six-bed mansion is located on a former quarry in a conservation area and offers sweeping views of North Wales and the Dee Estuary.

Agents Savills said the property was nominated for RIVA Mansell house of the year in 2013.

The grounds are stunning, with the property surrounded by greenery and a raised patio area. It also boasts a heated swimming pool and outside kitchen for ultimate luxury.

The listing said the house is "aimed to suit a family with progressive views on design" while giving "fantastic views from the living areas".

Also on Thorsway is an architect-designed residence which was put up for sale for £2.95m earlier this month.

Known as The Four Winds, the five-bedroom house dates back to the 1930s and has gardens that share a border with its gardens border National Trust woodland.

Despite its elegant splendour, there are also a number of 21st century touches, including a home gym, cinema, games room and self-cleaning windows. Upstairs, two of the bedrooms boast balconies.

The last time The Four Winds changed hands was in 2008 for £2.3m. The time before that was in 2002 for just £575,000.

In Southport, this designer residence looks like it's been plucked from the hills of Hollywood.

On the market for £2.5m with Arnold & Phillips, it has more than 8,000 sq ft of space and an ultra-modern monochrome aesthetic.

Ascending the dramatic central staircase in the hallway leads to a mezzanine landing with gas balustrades, letting the space teem with light. There are five large bedrooms over two floors, each room has its own bathroom, while the master also boasts a dressing room and a balcony with views of the grounds.

Its finishing touches are also jaw-dropping. The property has a portrait-style swimming pool in its own pool house, a sauna, steam room and gym, a professional chef's kitchen, and a basement wine store with adjacent tasting room. If you look closely, a glass tile on the hallway floor gives a glimpse into the owner's impressive wine collection.

The outside space is the real selling point with two vast paved areas providing plenty of space for relaxing, al fresco dining and entertaining.

Back to the Wirral - on Shore Road in Caldy - a waterside home with sprawling grounds has been put up for sale for £2m.

'Windward' is positioned close to Caldy Beach and offers second to none views of the Dee Estuary.

Inside, the house has a square footage of almost 3,000, with five bedrooms, two bathrooms and a standalone home office unit overlooking the water.

Agents Bradshaw, Farnham & Lea said: "This location carries all the prestige of this prime address with only nine properties occupying this private setting. They certainly don't come up for sale frequently."

Stanmore in Hoylake is going for £1.85m from agents Market Street Homes.

The period property boasts on-trend floor-to-ceiling panelling and ornate woodwork, as well as a billiard room with a secret door leading to a flower room and on to the garden.

There's also plenty to do in the area; the historic residence is in the shadow of the Royal Liverpool Golf Club where the British Open will take place in 2023. You can see the famous course from the first floor.
