WASHINGTON—Lonna Thompson, longtime executive vice president, chief operating officer and general counsel for America’s Public Television Stations, will retire effective Sept. 1, 2024. She is being succeeded as general counsel by Michelle Shanahan, former deputy general counsel at NPR.
Thompson, who has served in various capacities at APTS for 30 years, will become a consultant to the organization, helping member stations convert to the NextGen TV broadcast standard, exploring spectrum-based service and revenue opportunities for public stations and managing a grant program with the California Office of Emergency Services and 11 public television stations serving the State.
