Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall will reportedly not have to travel far to his next transfer destination.
The five-year Chanticleers quarterback is set to transfer to NC State, according to a Wednesday morning report from On3’s Pete Nakos.
McCall, who turned 23 on Wednesday, entered the transfer portal Nov. 29. He had also entered the portal in Dec. 2022, but opted to remain at Coastal Carolina.
The Indian Trail, N.C. native sustained a vicious hit to the head during the Chanticleers' 27–17 win over Arkansas State on Oct. 21. The injury limited McCall to just seven games in the regular season, his fewest since redshirting in 2019.
Coastal Carolina finished 7-5.

McCall was named the Sun Belt's Player of the Year every year from 2020-22. His career passing efficiency ranks sixth in FBS history, behind five current NFL quarterbacks (Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones, Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, Oklahoma's Kyler Murray, and the Buckeyes' Justin Fields).
NC State went 9-3 this year and finished No. 18 in the final CFP rankings. The Wolfpack are scheduled to open their 2024 season on Aug. 31 against Western Carolina.
