Longshore workers at the port of Baltimore engaged in violent behavior during a strike that commenced in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The International Longshoremen’s Association confirmed that the incident occurred when a dump truck driver attempted to enter the port.

According to reports, the situation escalated when the driver of the dump truck allegedly tried to run over the picketers. This action led to a confrontation where the workers forcibly removed the driver from the vehicle.

During a rally at the port of New York and New Jersey, a spokesperson for the Longshoremen’s Association recounted the events, stating that the driver faced consequences for his actions. The spokesperson indicated that the driver was pulled out of the truck by the workers after the attempted collision.

Further details emerged from an interview with the driver, who claimed that he had been directed by law enforcement to collect garbage from the port despite the presence of the picket line. The driver alleged that the longshore workers not only damaged his windshield but also caused lacerations to his face during the altercation.

The incident highlights the tensions that can arise during labor strikes and picket lines, underscoring the need for peaceful resolutions and respectful interactions between all parties involved.
