Long Eaton dealer jailed after drugs fell out of her bra while being searched

Drugs fell out of a dealer's bra as she was searched by police officers. Zara Omer, of Derby Road in Long Eaton, is now starting two and a half years behind bars after she admitted charges including possession of diamorphine and cannabis with intent to supply and possession of crack cocaine at Derby Crown Court on Friday, June 30.

Police were first alerted to Omer on Saturday, June 25, 2022 when they carried out a traffic stop on a vehicle in Wellington Street, Long Eaton. Omer was the driver of the car, despite giving a different name when asked by officers.

When she was searched, she admitted having cannabis on her and in the car, and a search of the car uncovered a bag containing 150 wraps of diamorphine (heroin) and 206 wraps containing cocaine. Less than three weeks later, on Friday, July 15, 2022, Omer was spotted by officers in Wellington Street once again, walking away from a car that had been parked up with the lights left on.

She denied having been driving the car but did admit to having cannabis on her in a make-up bag. The 37-year-old was searched, and further drugs fell out of her bra.

After being taken into custody, Omer was searched again and the keys for the car were found in her underwear. Inspector Ed Browne, from Ilkeston police station, said: “The sentence handed down to Omer in this case just goes to prove that nobody is above the law and if you engage in drug dealing, you will be caught and be made to pay for your crimes.

“The 37-year-old thought she could evade justice by giving my officers a false name and even going to the lengths of hiding the drugs in her bra, but that wasn’t good enough to fool us and she was quickly arrested."
