London travel news LIVE: Forest Hill signalling fault disrupts services at London Bridge station

A signalling fault near Forest Hill is affecting southbound services from London Bridge station this morning, with trains running towards Crystal Palace, Norwood Junction and other south London destinations operating at reduced speeds.

  • Southern and Thameslink services from London Bridge to Crystal Palace / Norwood Junction may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes, or revised.
  • London Overground services from London Bridge via Surrey Quays towards West Croydon are being partially cancelled, with some trains terminating at Surrey Quays.

Disruption is expected until 17:00, and passengers are advised to check before travelling and allow extra time for journeys.

Forest Hill signalling disruption extended – delays continue on Southern and Thameslink

However, Southern and Thameslink services between London Bridge station and Crystal Palace / Norwood Junction may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes, or revised.

Fire on broken-down train causing major disruption between Basingstoke and Southampton

All lines between Basingstoke station and Eastleigh station / Southampton Central are currently blocked after a fire on a broken-down train.

Services running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or revised, and Winchester will not be served. Major disruption is expected until 19:00.

CrossCountry passengers can use their tickets at no extra cost on a variety of alternative services, including:

  • Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern Railway, and Chiltern Railways services into London
  • London Underground between London terminals (show your ticket to gate staff)
  • Great Western Railway between London Paddington and Reading / Oxford
  • South Western Railway between London Waterloo and Bournemouth
  • Regional CrossCountry, West Midlands Railway, and GWR services connecting Birmingham, Reading, and Basingstoke

Road transport is also in operation between Southampton Central and Basingstoke in both directions. Passengers do not need to amend tickets to use any of the alternative routes.

Travellers are advised to allow extra time and check journey planners before travelling.

Delays continue on the Piccadilly line
