London travel news LIVE: Charing Cross disruption after electricity supply failure

Train services through High Brooms and Tunbridge Wells are facing disruption today after an electricity supply failure forced the closure of the line from Tonbridge towards Tunbridge Wells.

As a result, some trains are being cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes, or running on revised schedules.

Engineers are on site at High Brooms inspecting the tracks and working to restore power, with disruptions expected to continue until around 5pm.

For passengers travelling via Charing Cross, services from Hastings or Tonbridge towards London are continuing to run, but some trains may be altered or cancelled because trains cannot operate beyond Tunbridge Wells.

Those planning to use Charing Cross are advised to check live updates and allow extra time for their journeys as schedules are temporarily affected by the ongoing power supply issues.

Buses replace trains between Horsham and Dorking until next week

A landslip between Horsham and Dorking (Main) is causing major disruption to rail services.

Trains are unable to run between London Victoria and Horsham via this route, with no train service between Horsham and Dorking (Main) while repair work takes place.

Replacement buses are running between Horsham and Dorking (Main) and are expected to remain in place until Monday, February 16.

During this time, the stations at Warnham, Ockley and Holmwood will not be served by trains.

Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and check before travelling.

Constitution Hill, the Queen Victoria Memorial, Spur Road, Link Road, and The Mall up to Marlborough Road will be closed to vehicles until 12:30pm.

Delays continue on the Central line

Westbound traffic from the A406 North Circular Road is queuing on the off-slip road, while eastbound traffic is tailing back along the slip road and onto the A406 towards the Charlie Brown junction. Westbound traffic on the A12 Eastern Avenue is also backed up from Redbridge Roundabout towards Bee Hive Lane.

Drivers should expect delays and allow extra journey time.

Stansted Airport disruption update

Southern advice to customers

Trains cannot run north of Shepherds Bush, so Southern will not be running services northbound or southbound at Watford Junction, Harrow & Wealdstone, or Wembley Central.

Passengers are advised to use alternative routes if there is a long wait for a direct train. Southern tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on:

  • London Underground across Central, North, and West London via any reasonable route
  • London Northwestern Railway between Watford Junction, Harrow & Wealdstone, and London Euston (though some services are also affected)
  • London Overground: Lioness Line: Watford Junction - Harrow & Wealdstone - Wembley Central - Willesden Junction - Euston Mildmay Line: Willesden Junction - Shepherds Bush, connecting with Southern services

Alternative journeys may take 30–45 minutes longer, so allow extra time and check journey planners before travelling.

Trains between Tring and London Euston have been cancelled

  • Other services will divert via Swindon and Cheltenham Spa, skipping certain stops.
  • Passengers to Colwall, Ledbury, and Hereford are advised to use earlier or alternative trains.

Trains to London Paddington from Worcester and Hereford are also affected, with some terminating at Worcester Shrub Hill and onward travel provided by bus.

Traffic is slow in the Battersea area this morning
