London set for week of wet weather before temperatures rise at weekend

Wet weather is set to remain the norm in London this week - although temperatures should return to the mid-20s by next weekend.

Though there will be spells of sunshine, showers and heavy rain are forecast in the capital throughout the week by the Met Office.

A band of rain will spread east across the country on Monday, with scattered showers and sunshine expected on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday will then see another band of rain, before things start to pick up again on Friday.

Temperatures in the working week should hover around 17C and 18C.

By the weekend however, higher pressure will build over the south, bringing the potential for 24C or 25C weather across the South East, according to Met Office forecaster Craig Snell.

Mr Snell said: “There are hints as we go into the weekend we may well see a slight warming up.

“It’s hinting at 24C for London on Saturday, at least into the low 20s, maybe mid-20s across the South East.”

“After quite a bit of a changeable week with some potential cold periods, when it settles down even 24C, 25C could potentially feel markedly warmer.”
