- Monitoring group Tell Mama has logged 1,031 reports of anti-Muslim prejudice and hate in London during the first six months of this year, surpassing the 1,028 gathered across the whole of 2023.
- The group highlighted a sixfold surge in annual London cases from 2021-2025, saying that behind every report is "a Londoner who was made to feel unsafe simply because of their faith".
- Iman Atta, director at Tell Mama, said: "This is not a temporary blip, it is a sustained escalation of anti-Muslim hate, and it demands a sustained and uncompromising no-nonsense response from our public institutions."
- A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Our focus on tackling these hateful offenders is starting to work, and in the last 12 months the Met has increased positive outcomes – including arrests and charges – for anti-Muslim hate crime by 57%."
- Meanwhile, a spokesperson said the mayor of London had provided "a record £16 million – more than any other mayor – to support grassroots community groups to stand up to hate and intolerance and fund services for victims of hate crime".
