London’s highest wedding venue has opened at the summit of the City’s tallest skyscraper.
The owners of 22 Bishopsgate have teamed up with events caterers Searcys - best known for the champagne bar at St Pancras International station - to create an 8,800 sq ft space for couples tying the knot - as well as corporate receptions, dinners, product launches and fashion shows.
The venue, known as Horizon 22, is at the 58th level of the tower some 833 ft above the Bishopsgate pavement. It overtakes what was thought to be the highest location before, another Searcy’s run space on the 39th and 40th floors of the Gherkin Tower at 30 St Mary’s Axe. Another contender for the crown was the Ren Ballroom at the Shangri-La hotel on level 34 of The Shard,
Horizon 22 can be exclusively hired from 7pm to 3am, seven days a week, with capacity for up to 280 seated guests or 500 standing. It has its own entrance direct from Bishopsgate, with visitors whisked up to Level 58 in around 40 seconds in high speedo high speed lifts travelling at up to 8 metres per second.
The venue is equipped with moving and static LED spot and wash lights, stage lighting an acoustic sound system and can host live music and presentations with two LED screens of 4.6 metres and 6.6 metres wdith.
Searcys Managing Director, Paul Jackson said: “London now has a spectacular new evening events venue 833 ft in the sky at Horizon 22, the highest event space in Europe. We are incredibly proud to have been chosen to launch Horizon 22’s exclusive events offering, pairing our expertise in hosting one-of-a kind events with the unparalleled citywide views on offer at Horizon 22.”
