No Overground trains were running to and from Liverpool Street station
(Picture: Getty Images)London Overground lines have re-opened after a lorry hit a bridge near Tottenham, causing routes through Liverpool St to be suspended, but further disruption is expected until 5pm.
A lorry damaged a bridge at Bruce Grove on Friday morning, causing all routes between London Liverpool Street and Enfield Town, Cheshunt and Chingford to be suspended, National Rail said.
Bus operator Arriva were alerted at 11.49am that a lorry was wedged under a bridge at Bruce Grove. At 12.02pm the line had reopened and was running normally, with service recovery in place for the lorry, Transport for London (TfL) said.
An object caught in the overhead electric wires near Walthamstow Central also contributed to the disruption.
While services have re-opened commuters can still expect cancellations or delays of up to 20 minutes.
National Rail said disruption is expected to continue until 5pm.
Tickets are accepted on the Elizabeth line, Greater Anglia, Great Northern and London Underground services.
TfL was on Friday afternoon reporting minor delays on the Overground between Liverpool St and Enfield Town , Cheshunt and Chingford.
There were also delays on the Central, District and Piccadilly lines. The Bakerloo line is part suspended between Queen’s Park and Harrow & Wealdstone.
There was a good service on all other Underground lines.
The disruption comes after overhead wire problems caused severe delays on the Overground between Stratford and Willesden Junction during Friday morning rush-hour.
The Elizabeth line was affected by a 24-hour strike between Thursday and Friday morning by TSSA and Prospect union members, amid a dispute over pay parity.
Services on the Elizabeth line returned to normal just before 9am.
Bus drivers employed by Abellio in South and West London also striked on Thursday amid a pay dispute. Further bus driver strikes are planned for January 16, 19, 25 and 26.
