The number of pensioners in receipt of winter fuel allowance is set to fall from some 10.8 million to 1.5 million people - (PA Wire)

A London borough has agreed to fund the winter fuel allowance for pensioners set to lose the payments.

Elderly residents in Tower Hamlets will receive £175 from the council if they miss out on the benefit, which is being cut under plans by Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
