Gordie Mutch is set for his Praga Cup showdown this weekend in Donington.
Fanatec Praga Team87 go into the final two races with a 19 point gap on Mittell Cars but the Lockerbie lad isn’t putting too much pressure on himself.
He said: “After the weekend that’s where it will be different, if we’re champions or not. I’m just treating it the same as any other weekend.
“That’s my approach. Along with that I don’t put any extra pressure on myself so going into the weekend the feelings are the same.
“We’ve been doing things right for the entire season so far so we’ve come into the last round in the championship lead doing what we’ve been doing. So with those performances we’ve been putting in we don’t really need to change much. It’s not like we need to win both races.
“We just need to have a good, strong weekend and we will take whatever we get out of it.”
Donington is one of Gordie’s most successful tracks in his short career so far which gives him another title boost.
He said: “Donington is one of the circuits I’ve got the most experience at. I’ve done a lot of driver coaching there, driven a lot of different cars there and it’s got my highest hit rate. I’ve got most wins and podiums there so if I were to choose any track to have a showdown at it would be Donington.”
Whatever happens Gordie, originally from Aberdeenshire, believes there are plenty of positives to take from the campaign.
He said: “It’s always good as a pro driver to be in with a chance of winning championships with an amateur driver because it shows you can work and develop them into a winning position. There are a lot of dynamics in a pro-am series.
“It’s a testament to that. It’s not just my efforts behind the wheel but my efforts as a driver coach and being able to lead a team into a championship-winning position.”
