Prisoners were given a wide-range of sentences by judges at courts in Nottingham and Derby in February for a catalogue of crimes which varIed in severity.
Among the worst of those was the case against alcoholic Ian Hensworth, who flew into a rage and attacked Linsey Perry, who also goes by the name Mrs Linsey Lafferty.
He accused her of breaking his Digibox, which he had used to record Euro 2020 football matches on TV.
Mrs Lafferty, 41, was rushed to hospital after suffering an attack with a craft knife.
Hensworth was jailed for 22 years after he was found guilty of trying to kill her.

Robbery victim was threatened with a kitchen fork and a ballpoint pen
Defendant Lee Thompson , 26, wrongly believed that his neighbour had his bank card and it had been delivered by mistake to his Worksop home.
Thompson, now of Wilton Street, Townhead, Coatbridge, and more recently in HMP Nottingham, threatened him and pushed a kitchen fork to his throat and then he picked up the ballpoint pen and pressed it against his temple with enough force to hurt him.
Thompson, described in court by Judge Steven Coupland as the "ringleader" in the attack, was jailed for five years and three months for robbery, six weeks concurrently for a separate burglary and one month consecutively for a bail act offence.
Judge jails banned driver
Banned driver Nathan Cossey , 34, of Nuthall Road, Aspley, was jailed for trying to fool police he was not behind the wheel by swapping to the passenger side.
The judge activated one suspended sentence, imposing 12 months. For another suspended sentence, which was for burglary, he handed him two months consecutively.
For another breach of a suspended sentence, which was for driving whilst disqualified, he received two months consecutively.
For two new driving whilst disqualified offences, the judge gave him two months concurrently on each but consecutive to the other offences.
The total sentence was 18 months, of which he will serve half, and he was given another driving ban for 21 months, accounting for his time in custody.
No separate penalty was imposed for driving without insurance.
Thug delivered 'sucker punch' in drink-fuelled crime spree
Lynden Brown embarked on a drink-fuelled spree of violence where he delivered a "sucker punch" to a Good Samaritan at a pub and attacked a police officer.
Brown, 39, of Fleming Gardens, Clifton, also hit a vulnerable man twice.
His shocking catalogue of crimes happened when he was subject to a suspended sentence for dangerous driving and drink-driving.
Taking into account Brown's pleas of guilty, the judge imposed a total of two years in prison, of which he will serve half and the rest on licence.
Six months was imposed for assault, causing bodily harm at the pub, six months consecutively for assaulting the police officer and three months consecutively for common assault.
He received three months concurrently on a criminal damage charge, where he repeatedly punched his partner's door.
Nine months consecutively was imposed from the previous suspended sentence.
Notorious conman stealing from letterboxes across Nottinghamshire
Kevin Castle, 56, of Birkin Avenue in Radcliffe-on-Trent, went to multiple people's homes around the county and accessed their postbox located a distance away from their property.
He broke into these letterboxes, stealing post and creating credit cards in his victim's name so he could withdraw money and fund his own lifestyle.
He pleaded guilty to nine counts of fraud by false representation and one count of theft and was sentenced to four years and eight months imprisonment at Nottingham Crown Court.
Man assaults QMC nurses in 3 separate incidents
Scott Adams , 50, of Willn Close, Coalville, carried out three terrifying attacks on members of staff at the hospital over the course of a few days.
Adams pleaded guilty to assault by beating an emergency worker and harassment when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, February 8.
He was sentenced to 40 weeks imprisonment in total, of which he will serve half and the remainder on licence.
Face of man who beat woman in drunken attack
Scott O’Hare , 48, of Westfield Lane, Mansfield, was drunk when he beat his victim at an address in the same town.
O’Hare later pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm and drink driving.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, February 3, he was jailed for two years and three months.
Man told police 'I've done something stupid' after bedroom fire
Lee Bramley admitted starting a fire in his bedroom at a shared accommodation in Chesterfield Road, Mansfield.
After lighting the fire, Bramley then locked his bedroom door and left the shared accommodation.
He went straight to Mansfield Police Station just 22 minutes later and admitted to the arson – telling officers: “I’ve done something stupid."
Firefighters were called out to the supported housing building after being made aware by other residents of the blaze on July 25 last year, which didn’t result in any injuries but did cause around £700 of damage.
Bramley, 51, was charged with arson with recklessness and appeared before Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, February 2, where he was sentenced to two years and eight months in jail.
Accounts clerk swindled nearly £25k from employer
Jill Cannon, 63, of Winthorpe Road, Newark-on-Trent, was employed by Mori Lee (UK) Ltd and Royal Joyce International Ltd, Northgate Terrace, Northern Road, Newark, which are both separate bridal wear companies.
The accounts clerk moved nearly £25,000 into her bank account after finding a loophole in the system which allowed her to do so.
Cannon pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position after appearing at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on April 13 last year.
She was jailed for 12 months at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, February 28, for fraud by abuse of position.

Four men convicted of murdering Byron Griffin will serve a minimum of 25 years each behind bars.
Jordan Fairbrother, Dylan Geary, Daniel Lewsley and Grant Masterson were all found guilty following a six-week trial at Derby Crown Court, Derbyshire Live reports.
On Monday, February 28, they heard what how long they will spend in prison for the vicious street attack that left Mr Griffin, from East Leake, fatally wounded.
Geary, 22, and Lewsley, 32, will serve a minimum of 25 years behind bars before being eligible for parole, while Masterson, 29, will serve a minimum of 26 years and Fairbrother, 26, a minimum of 27 years.
The victim, 22, was found with two stab wounds in Eyre’s Garden, Ilkeston, at around 12.40pm on Sunday, July 4, last year.
Mr Griffin was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he was declared deceased shortly after 2pm.
It was the prosecution's case that Jordan Fairbrother stabbed the deceased twice with a kitchen knife and the other three defendant's encouraged him to inflict the fatal stab wounds.
Man caught with 'bag full of stolen goods' from Poundland
Carl Pearson was caught stealing from Poundland in Main Street, Bulwell, at around 1pm on February 17.
Pearson, 38, was found with a black holdall bag filled with stolen goods, including shampoo, worth £62.50.
Pearson, of Gaul Street, Bulwell, was charged with theft and pleaded guilty at a hearing before city magistrates on February 18.
He was sentenced to five months in prison for his offending.
Man set fire to community allotments
Nathan Smith, of no fixed address, committed the crime at the Lane End allotments, off Mansfield Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, at about 9.30pm on May 14, 2021.
The 31-year-old was absent from Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, February 25, where he was given a five-year prison sentence.
He was convicted of two charges of arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered
Smith was also charged with a count of racially aggravated assault. He was given a consecutive sentence of three months.
Victim lost 5 teeth in attack
James Chandler, 31, got into an argument with his victim during a visit to a hostel in Rosemary Street, Mansfield, on November 29 last year.
Chandler, of Langford Road, Mansfield, shoved the man into a wall and punched him.
In a bid to escape, the man fled through the window before falling and shattering his ankle.
The victim lost five teeth in the incident and was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre where he had surgery for an open ankle fracture.

Mums part of dial-to-order drugs ring with 50,000 calls a year
Two mums and one of their boyfriends have gone to jail for their roles in a dial-to-order drugs conspiracy targeting students.
The sentencing came after others have been locked up in a prolific drugs supply business where both Class A and Class B drugs were flogged primarily to students in Nottingham through dedicated "drug lines".

Heavily-pregnant Heather McGrory, who has an 18-month-old girl, worked at a takeaway and started giving lifts before running round Class B drugs and later Class A.
McGrory, 28, of Larch Gardens, Bulwell, was jailed for five years after she pleaded guilty to her role in the conspiracy.
Kieran Neilson, 22, of Aspley Lane, Nottingham, was found guilty after trial and was jailed for eight years.

A lifelong Leicester City fan shamed the sport by hitting three Nottingham Forest players during the team’s FA Cup clash with Leicester City.
Cameron Toner, 19, of Leicester, pleaded guilty to three charges of assault by beating and going onto a playing area at a football match.
Appearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on February 24, he was sentenced to four months in youth custody.
Toner was also fined £100 for going on to the pitch and has been banned from attending matches for ten years following a football banning order being imposed.
He was also ordered to pay £128 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
Tills and fruit machines targeted in Notts pub break-in
Tills and fruit machines were targeted and money was stolen during the burglary at The White Swan in Devonshire Square, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
The landlord had closed the pub for the night at around 11.30pm on July 1 last year and awoke at around 7.15am and found what had happened.
Fingerprints belonging to Natasha Clark, of Hibbert Crescent, Sutton-in-Ashfield, were later found at the scene.
The 41-year-old was subsequently arrested and pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary. She was jailed for 15 months when she appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday, February 22.
Man jailed after stealing delivery van and spitting in police vehicle
Jamie Kettle, 35, waited for the driver to leave his van unoccupied at around 2.45pm, October 2, 2021, as he went to place a parcel on a doorstep before launching into the driver’s side and attempting to drive away.
Kettle, of Queen Street, Worksop,, made it around three metres down the street before he was stopped by the victim in Shrewsbury Road, Worksop,
He managed to take a hold of the steering wheel to get him to stop and pull over.
After being arrested, Kettle was then reported to have spat in the back of the police van.
Kettle, who pleaded guilty to taking a vehicle without consent and criminal damage to property, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, February 18. He was jailed for a total of 34 weeks.
Man who spat at woman, grabbed her hair & punched her in the face
Police released a photo of a domestic abuser who spat in a woman's face, grabbed her hair and punched her in the face.
Arturas Abramovas, 35, attacked her at an address in Newark on July 23 last year, having ignored a restraining order.
Abramovas, of Boundary Road, Newark, went on to plead guilty to charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, criminal damage and harassment and admitted to breaching a restraining order.
He was locked up for two years when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on February 22.
Man repeatedly slashed woman in the face with knife
Shane Cartledge, 38, slashed a woman across the cheek, head and shoulder with a kitchen knife in Mansfield.
Cartledge was found guilty by a jury of causing grievous bodily harm to his victim.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, February 18, Cartledge, of Crich View, Newton, Alfreton, Derbyshire, was sentenced to 11 years, with a requirement to serve two-thirds.
Man attacked on his ex-partner
John Cross, 35, was arrested at a property in Clifton following the assaults, which took place on September 23 and 25, 2021.
Nottingham Crown Court heard the woman had ended her relationship with Cross in August 2020, due to his violent behaviour, but that he would not leave her alone.
Cross, of Fletcher Terrace, Mapperley, pleaded guilty to assault by occasioning actual bodily harm, assault by beating, two counts of criminal damage and four breaches of a restraining order.
He appeared for sentence on Thursday, February 17, and was jailed for one year and nine months.
Cross is now on a ten-year restraining order.
Man jailed for 22 years
A football fan was jailed for 22 years after he was found guilty of trying to kill a woman by slitting her throat.
Ian Hensworth, 63, of Hartley Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, was convicted of attempted murder after a jury deliberated for 70 minutes at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, February 16.
As he was sentenced to the 22 years, of which he will serve two-thirds before he is liable for release, the judge said: "It was a determined and premeditated attempt."
