A 51-year-old man has been arrested after an incident at a doctors' surgery in Port Talbot, police have confirmed. Officers were called to Mount Surgery in Taibach shortly before 2.15pm on Monday afternoon and later confirmed one male had been arrested on suspicion of affray. He remains in police custody.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police was called just before 2.15pm this afternoon [Wednesday] following reports of an incident at Mount Surgery, Margam Road, Taibach. Officers are making enquiries to establish the full circumstances. A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and is currently in police custody."
The statement comes after residents took to social media to warn others of an incident unfolding at the GP surgery. One witness claimed the surgery was "on lockdown". The witness said the surgery was closed - with no-one allowed in or out - whilst staff waited for police to arrive. Others claimed a window in a nearby pharmacy had been smashed during the incident.
