Loch Ken Ranger Service looking for new recruits for 2023 season

The Loch Ken Ranger Service is seeking an additional ranger for the season ahead.

Since its formation in 2021 in response to the withdrawal of council services, the service has ensured the area around Loch Ken has been better cared for, with a noticeable reduction in dirty camping and antisocial behaviour.

In 2022 the service responded to more than 1,000 incidents including fly-tipping, wildlife crime and dirty camping.

Subject to a funding decision, the Loch Ken Trust is looking for a hardworking individual with a passion for looking after the natural environment to join the ranger
team.

As one of the first community-led services of its kind, the Loch Ken Ranger Service has become established in the communities, developing positive relationships with land owners, businesses and all the different loch user
groups.

Loch Ken Trust officer Barney Fryer said: “Being a Loch Ken ranger is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference to all our lives.

“If you think you are the person to take our ranger service to the next level, we would love to hear from you.”

The role is both land and water based and will also involve delivering education sessions and promoting the Scottish Outdoor Access
Code.

Anyone interested in the role should send a CV with covering letter to lktoffice@protonmail.com.

A full job description can be found at www.lochken.org.uk

Applications are set to close on April 14, with a view to the successful candidate being in post from May 1.
