A Glenkens community group has been “blown away“ by the public response to a crowdfunder appeal for a regeneration project.
Local Initiatives in New Galloway (LING) only launched the Refurbishment Appeal for New Galloway Town Hall at he end of January.
But on Sunday the group reached its £5,000 target with six days to spare before the deadline.
Now LING events organiser Neil Paterson is hoping for a late flurry of support – because each pledge is worth twice the cash.
He said: “This is great news but we can still keep every penny we raise over the target - which will be doubled by match funding. We have been blown away by the response to our crowdfunder. We’re delighted by the generosity of local people.
“We’re also very grateful for every time the link to the site has been shared which makes others far and near aware of our appeal.’
