Local elections 2023 in Greater Manchester: Date, candidates, photo ID rules and how to vote

People across Greater Manchester will soon be able to cast their vote in the local elections this May.

Polling stations will open across the UK next month as people decide who they want to represent their wards. All-out elections – where every seat is up for grabs – are taking place in several Greater Manchester boroughs including Oldham, Wigan, Tameside, Stockport, Trafford and Bolton.

Local councillors serve for a four-year term and while some councils elect all of their representatives at the same time, others elect just a portion of their councillors each time, but hold elections more regularly.
