Local cricket: Player Development Programme to help nurture stars of the future

The Love Lane Liverpool Competition is embarking on the 14th year of its Player Development Programme.

Aimed at youngsters who took part in the Lancashire Inter-League Competition in 2022, this year’s programme is a joint enterprise with the Lancashire Cricket Foundation.

Funded primarily out of the fines paid by clubs in 2022, 96 boys and girls will receive coaching from the LCF and the Comp’s own coaches at St Bede’s (Ormskirk) Sports Centre from Saturday until March.

Liverpool Competition Chairman John Williams said: “We are proud of our programme, which has enabled a huge number of players to access cricket development. The county link is a perfect fit.”

Jen Barden, LCF’s cricket development Manager, added: “We look forward to the sessions starting and seeing the players get ready for an exciting 2023 season.”
