Lizzo speaks out about her relationship saying monogamy is 'a little claustrophobic'

Lizzo has revealed she finds monogamy "a little claustrophobic" as she spoke about her relationship with boyfriend Myke Wright.

The Grammy winner, 34, went Instagram official with the comedian, 35, last month after the pair were spotted wining and dining back in February.

Lizzo — whose real name is Melissa Jefferson — has said they have a non-traditional relationship, adding she wants love to be the "main event" and doesn't enjoy having a lot of rules.

"I think a traditional relationship scares me for 10 years, but love is forever. I can love somebody forever.

"It's like monogamy, I think to me, is a little claustrophobic. I think because there's the rules" she revealed while appearing on The Breakfast Club podcast.

She added that a "love relationship" which isn't monogamous has no rules.

"I don't want any rules, but that doesn't mean I'm out here f***ing and sucking and ducking. It doesn't mean he is either.

"It just means that there are no expectations, and that way, the love gets to just be the main event," she said.

The rapper said she is happy to have an exclusive relationship, as long as it isn't labelled as monogamy. When asked by host Charlamagne what she would call it, Lizzo said: "Just love. 'I just love you'."

She said the relationship between her and Myke is "beautiful" and the purest form of love.

Lizzo and Myke were friends before they started dating and knew each other before she achieved mainstream success back in 2019.

She said she is surrounded by "genuine" people, including Myke, who she knew before becoming famous, adding that they care about the real her and not the "'Lizzo' with the chain on."

Speaking with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM's Radio Andy Show earlier this year, Lizzo said her fame isn't a factor in their relationship.

Although she didn't name any names at the time, Lizzo made it clear that her life as a celebrity doesn't affect how her boyfriend views her.

She added: "If you have the right person, no, not at all. It should be mutually supportive no matter what that person does."
