Liz Truss: Where is next prime minister’s constituency and where is she from?

Now that Liz Truss has been announced as the next Prime Minister, she will be moving into Downing Street, the traditional home and office of the political leader.

However, before she became Prime Minister, Truss was an MP for her own constituency, having served as an MP since 2010.

Truss was also formerly the Foreign Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities, assuming various Cabinet positions over the years during David Cameron, Theresa May, and Boris Johnson’s times in office.

Here’s a look at where Liz Truss’s constituency is and where the new Prime Minister is from.

Where is Liz Truss’s constituency?

Truss has been the Conservative MP for South West Norfolk since 2010. Located in the county of Norfolk, it includes major towns like Downham Market, Swaffham, and Thetford.

Before she became MP for South-West Norfolk, Truss also stood for the constituency of Hemsworth in West Yorkshire, a traditionally safe Labour seat.

Although she didn’t win in Hemsworth, the next Prime Minister did secure a 3.2 per cent increase in Conservative votes in the area.

Where is Liz Truss from?

Although she was born in Oxford, Truss moved with her family to Paisley, just outside Glasgow in Scotland, at the age of four.

She lived there for another six years, before moving and attending school just outside Leeds. She later also lived in Canada for one year.
