Livingston winger believes new found work ethic could have seen him reach the top

Dylan Bahamboula admits the world could have been his oyster if he had the work ethic and team-first mentality he now has at Livingston when he was a teenager.

The 27-year-old came through the Monaco youth ranks where he played alongside Manchester City ace Bernardo Silva but didn’t make the grade.

A journeyman career has followed, which includes spells in the English fourth tier as well as stints in Romania, Bulgaria and Algeria.

It could have been a different story had he established the work ethic that has now been instilled in him.

He said: “There is a saying here, ‘You leave your ego at the door’. At other clubs, when you don’t play and are not happy, everyone gets to see you are not happy.

“Sometimes I saw that, sometimes I was like that too. When I was younger, that was me. If anyone had an ego here at Livingston, it wouldn’t last long.

“The attitude comes from the manager, the staff and the players who have been here for a while. I think about it now and I lost my time when I was younger. If I had the Livingston mentality when I was a teenager, I could have ended up anywhere.”
