Livingston defender Morgan Boyes says a chat with pal Adam Lewis convinced him a move north of the border was too good to turn down.
The 21-year-old is hoping to make his Lions debut in today’s Scottish Cup clash at home to Ross County after switching Liverpool for Livingston a fortnight ago.
Boyes and Lewis, currently on loan at Livi from the English giants, have risen through the youth ranks at Anfield but are united once more in West Lothian.
The Wales under-21 centre-back put pen to paper on a deal that keeps him in Scotland until the end of next season - with the club having an option to extend by a further season.
The defender, who also had a spell on loan at English third tier outfit Fleetwood Town, says it became clear that Livi was the place to take his next step in the game after speaking with Lewis.
He said: “Adam was back at Liverpool doing his rehab and I had a lot of time to speak to him about it. He encouraged me to come up and gave me plenty of information that tilted me towards coming up here.
“I’m settling in well, it’s been a lot easier than I expected. Changing country and coming up you can be a bit isolated but the lads have made it easy for me.
“The league’s very competitive. I’ve done the lower leagues in England but this league for me is a higher level and I wanted to challenge myself.”
He added: “I’m still young and learning the game. I spoke to the gaffer and he said it’s a great learning curve to come up here and get exposed to the type of training and level of play.
“Scottish football has a good reputation in England. In the past it was maybe kind of looked down on but I think now it’s more competitive and challenging than people think.”
