Liverpool name a strong lineup for their final Premier League game before the World Cup against Southampton today.
While neither Joel Matip nor James Milner start at Anfield, Matip is nearing a return. Milner, meanwhile, is set to play in at least some capacity after recovering from a concussion and is named on the bench.
Jurgen Klopp had also revealed his team have suffered no fresh injury concerns of late, with only long-term absentees Naby Keita, Luiz Diaz, Arthur Melo and Diogo Jota missing.
Afforded the luxury of resting players for the midweek Carabao Cup penalty-shootout win over Derby County, it seems reasonable to expect that Liverpool will be at as close to full strength as possible this afternoon.
“Nobody is out from the players we had available for midweek or for the last game, I would say,” said Klopp during Friday’s pre-match press conference.
Mo Salah boasts an excellent record against Saturday’s opposition and is now approaching a month-long break, while Roberto Firmino is another who will miss the World Cup even despite his excellent form this season. As a reuslt, both start.
Liverpool starting XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Elliott, Thiago; Salah, Firmino, Nunez
Injured: Jota, Diaz, Keita, Arthur
