Liverpool weather: Met Office forecast for Bonfire night

It was a cold start on Friday morning, but the weekend is likely to bring heavy showers and winds.

Earlier this week, parts of the North West were battered by wet and windy conditions as the UK continued to feel the fallout of Storm Claudio. A yellow weather warning was put in place, affecting many parts of Merseyside.

But as we look ahead to the weekend, ready for Bonfire Night, the latest weather forecasts suggests a miserable day on Friday, November 4, turning more unsettled with showers and winds expected.

As people prepare for Bonfire night celebrations on Saturday, November 5, we have taken a look at the upcoming weather forecast for this weekend. According to the Met Office, things will turn "more unsettled" as we head into the weekend.

Friday

On Friday, Liverpool will see some heavy showers in the morning, changing to sunny intervals around lunchtime. It will be a cold start on Friday with any patchy fog clearing. The Met Office predicts: "A largely fine day with some sunny spells, but a few scattered showers pushing through from lunchtime."

Temperatures will reach around 12C but as we head into the night, isolated fog and mist may form. It is also expected to "turn chilly" with temperatures expecting to be as low as 0C in some areas.

Saturday

Saturday however will be more of a miserable day. Heavy rain is expected throughout the morning, but this will likely clear by early evening. With highs of 13C, temperatures will feel much cooler during the morning period.

The heavy rain showers are expected to clear at around 5pm, just in time for the dark nights and any bonfire celebrations. But as we head into the evening, temperatures will likely drop to as low as 9C. Sunset is at 4.33pm, according to the Met Office.

Sunday

Sunday is looking to be more of a settled, yet cloudy day. Some light showers are likely around lunchtime and there will be highs of 12C.

Looking ahead from Sunday to Tuesday, the Met Office predicts for the North West: "Remaining unsettled into next week with showers, isolated thunderstorms, and longer spells of rain. Coastal gales at times. Temperatures climbing a little above average but tempered by rain and wind."
