Liverpool take on West Ham at Anfield on Saturday looking to keep their Champions League chase alive.
The Reds’ last-gasp win over Nottingham Forest last time out moved them level on points with Chelsea, who faltered on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against Burnley.
Arne Slot’s side have struggled with their title defence this term, with a wretched run of form at the start of the season leaving them way off the pace.
It has forced the Merseysiders’ priorities to shift to trying to qualify for Europe’s top competition, where the Premier League are likely to have five places available due to their UEFA coefficient ranking.
As for Nuno Espirito Santo’s Hammers, they are two points from safety as the battle to beat the drop hots up.
They have closed the gap on Nuno’s old employers Nottingham Forest, who face Brighton at the weekend after their second leg of the Europa League play-off against Fenerbahce.

Liverpool were dealt another injury blow to add to their growing list of absentees ahead of their 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest.
Florian Wirtz pulled out of the starting XI after feeling something in the warm-up, with Slot admitting that the German had been struggling with a niggle in the lead-up to the game.
The German is not thought to be out for too long, however, and he could potentially be in a position to play here.
Elsewhere, Alexander Isak remains sidelined despite being pictured with a ball at Liverpool’s training ground, with Slot revealing that the Swede would still be out for a fair while yet.
Conor Bradley is also out for the campaign, but Jeremie Frimpong could play, after Slot confirmed that the Dutchman was close to a return from the injury he sustained in the Champions League win over Qarabag.
Giovanni Leoni and Wataru Endo are out long term.
As for the Irons, Pablo Felipe, the January arrival, is out for “a long time” with a calf problem, according to Nuno, while back-up goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and Freddie Potts are their other two injury concerns.

This could be a closer game that many might think, particularly when considering West Ham’s recent form, which sees them beaten just once in their last eight games in all competitions.
Liverpool were less than convincing in their win at Forest, with Jamie Carragher labelling it “one of the biggest robberies” in the Premier League this season.
The Reds are, however, in good form, having won five of their past six games in all competitions. Their only defeat in that time came in their dramatic 2-1 loss against Manchester City.
