Ahead of Sunday’s titanic clash, we have the Liverpool vs Man City preview, prediction, latest team news and predicted lineups.
Liverpool Vs Man City Preview
Not many people would have predicted challengers Liverpool to be on the brink of opening up an 11-point lead over disintegrating champions Manchester City before Christmas. But here we are.
Arne Slot’s side have been simply irresistible so far this season. The only blemishes have been a draw to Arsenal and a surprise home defeat to Nottingham Forest.
A victory at Anfield will surely set the Reds well on their way to a second-ever Premier League title. The Merseyside Juggernaut really shows no signs of slowing.
On Wednesday, a first Champions League win over Real Madrid in 15 years was ticked off the to do list. Alexis Mac Allister and substitute Cody Gakpo with the goals. Caoimhin Kelleher even saved a Kylian Mbappe penalty.
Prior to that, a late Mo Salah double bailed Slot out of what would have been a shock defeat to basement dwellers Southampton. That 3-2 St Mary’s win gave Slot an eight-point lead at the top of the table going into GW13.
The Dutchman and his players will be brimming with confidence when they welcome a wounded City side on Sunday. No extra motivation is needed, especially with a passionate home support cheering them on.

Man City Are On The Ropes
Pep Guardiola is really starting to feel the heat and a sixth defeat in seven games will surely see the Manchester City manager’s position come under question. Despite recently signing a new contract.
Last weekend’s shocking 4-0 drubbing at home to Tottenham Hotspur really got the alarm bells ringing. James Maddison helped himself to a brace before Pedro Porro and top-scorer Brennan Johnson got in on the act.
That damaging defeat only served to glorify how far the champions have fallen in recent weeks. It really has been an amazing turn of events after a fine start to the season.
City’s lowest ebb certainly occurred on Wednesday night against Feyenoord. Erling Haaland netted twice either side of an Ilkay Gundogan effort to give the Cityzens a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Then, disaster struck. The Dutch champions scored a stunning trio of goals to clinch the most unlikeliest of draws. That stalemate leaves Guardiola’s side languishing in 17th in the new-look Champions League table.
Ahead of the game, the best football betting sites in the UK price the champions as 5/2 outsiders to win. Liverpool are 23/20 with the draw available at 11/4.
Liverpool Vs Man City Team News
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been passed fit for Liverpool which will give the Reds a timely boost ahead of Sunday’s extravaganza. However, doubts remain over Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate.
Both players suffered late injuries in the victory over Real Madrid. Joe Gomez could step in to replace Konate in the heart of the defence.
Federico Chiesa, Diogo Jota, Alisson Becker and Kostas Tsimikas are all ruled out. With a midweek clash at Newcastle to contemplate, Curtis Jones may be given a much needed rest.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are expected to be without five players. Rodri, Mateo Kovacic and Oscar Bobb are definately absent. Late calls will be made on Jeremy Doku and John Stones.
Ruben Dias is expected to start in the middle of defence. Kevin De Bruyne could also be afforded a start as it’s literally now or never for City.

Liverpool Vs Man City Prediction
Expect plenty of goals at Anfield but unfortunately for Man City, we are predicting most will end up in their net. Liverpool are way too hot for anyone to handle currently.
Even a prime City team would find it extremely difficult to win on the red half of Merseyside. Let alone one that is in disarray. Slot’s side will be riding the crest of a wave if they record a comprehensive victory in front of their own fans.
Prediction: Liverpool 4-1 Man City
