Liverpool vs Leeds: Prediction, kick-off time, TV, live stream, team news, h2h results, odds

Liverpool vs Leeds - (ES Composite)

Liverpool welcome Leeds to Anfield on New Year's Day, looking to continue their excellent recent form.

The Reds are unbeaten in seven games, winning five. Arne Slot has turned their fortunes around after a disastrous start to the season which all but ended hopes of defending their Premier League title.

Leeds are similarly in very good form and are unbeaten in five, including wins over Chelsea and Liverpool and helped by Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s seven goals in his past six games.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Liverpool vs Leeds United is scheduled for a 5.30pm GMT kick-off on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

The match will take place at Anfield Stadium.

Liverpool vs Leeds team news

Giovanni Leoni and Alexander Isak will miss the game for Liverpool due to long-term injuries.

Mohamed Salah is at AFCON, while Wataru Endo and Joe Gomez are both injured but should be back at some point in January.

Dominik Szoboszlai is back from suspension and will be available for the clash.

Compared to most other teams in the Premier League, Leeds have been fortunate with their injury list and they are only missing three players.

Dan James, Joe Rodon and Sean Longstaff are all out, but all three are expected back towards the end of January.

Liverpool vs Leeds prediction

Liverpool are flying at the minute and have conceded only twice in their last four games. At home they should have too much for Leeds.

But when these two sides met only a few weeks ago they produced a 3-3 thriller. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in that game and has been in scintillating recent form.

The Englishman has scored seven goals in his last six Premier League games and you wouldn't bet against him scoring at Anfield.

Daniel Farke's side will be confident going into the game, given their strong form. Even before their current five game unbeaten run, they only narrowly lost 3-2 to Manchester City and 2-1 to Aston Villa.

Unlike in many previous years, this campaign Farke has managed to produce a side that is capable of competing with the very best and has a good chance of staying in the division.

Liverpool 3-1 Leeds

Head to head (h2h) history and results

Unsurprisingly, the recent head-to-head meetings favour Liverpool, who have won three of the last five games between the two sides. But these two teams have a history of producing great games.

The last meeting between the two in December finished 3-3, in 2023 they had a seven-goal game which Liverpool won 6-1, and Liverpool beat Leeds 6-0 in 2022.
