Liverpool-Ukraine summit bringing businesses together ahead of Eurovision

A summit inspired by Eurovision in Liverpool next month aims to forge links between Ukraine and businesses in the North West.

Liverpool is hosting the global musical spectacular this year on behalf of Ukraine.

The city will host a massive programme of cultural events alongside the contest itself, aimed at showcasing the music and culture of Ukraine as the country continues to defy Russian invaders.

Now Liverpool Chamber of Commerce has announced a business event this week ahead of Eurovision to bring together Ukrainian and North West companies.

The United in Business: Liverpool-Ukraine Summit aims to help Ukrainian businesses trade in the UK and also help North West firms learn about potential business opportunities in post-war Ukraine.

The summit, sponsored by the Department for Business and Trade, has been organised by Liverpool, London and Ukraine Chambers of Commerce.

Liverpool Chamber’s chief executive Paul Cherpeau said: “The Liverpool-Ukraine Summit is designed to connect an incoming Ukrainian delegation of businesses with Liverpool and North West-based companies to facilitate trade opportunities and partnership activity.”

London Chamber will be bringing over businesses from Ukraine looking to forge relationships with North West businesses.

Mr Cherpeau said: “They will be seeking opportunities to connect with North West-based businesses, particularly SMEs, with whom they can trade and who they can establish partnerships with.

“Hopefully we as a Chamber can facilitate, over the coming months and years, mutually beneficial relationships - and the summit is one way to support those kinds of relationships.”

Elena Enciso, head of international trade at the Chamber, said: “We have had a very positive response from local firms that are looking forward to build those personal links and hopefully develop a legacy for business and economic growth.”

The event will take place later this week. For more details on the event, contact Liverpool Chamber.
