Liverpool's season begins in less than a week when the Reds face off against grudge rivals Manchester City in the Community Shield next Saturday.
That will be the first of what could be many matches between the pair over the course of the 2022-23 season with the Reds attempting to wrestle the Premier League trophy from City's grasp after another tight title battle last term.
In terms of preparations for the new season, the Reds face RB Salzburg next week in their penultimate game before the new league season.
Here, Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of Anfield as the new campaign fast approaches.
Nunes price tag emerges
Liverpool will reportedly have to pay £51million to stand any chance of signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes this summer.
The 23-year-old Brazilian has been heavily linked with a switch to Anfield before the window shuts. Despite the constant speculation, the Athletic recently claimed that any discussion of Liverpool bidding for Nunes this summer would be ‘nonsense’
However, reports in the Portuguese media claim to know the exact figure that would trigger his existing club to enter negotiations, which is set at £51m.
Portuguese outlet O Jogo also claim Nunes has been hesitant over his future at the club but that his manager Ruben Amorim has been trying to convince him to stay for one more season. With Tyler Morton poised to join Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan, there is certainly a space in Klopp's senior squad for a new midfielder.
Klopp breaks silence on further additions
Whilst not directly quizzed on the possibility of the aforementioned Nunes becoming his latest signing, manager Jurgen Klopp appeared to effectively end the hope of any more incomings.
So far this summer Klopp has brought in striker Darwin Nunez, midfielder Fabio Carvalho and defender Calvin Ramsay. But asked whether he was expecting any further incomings during the transfer window, Klopp said: “Unless we have injuries or player sales no. We have our squad.
Klopp then laughed when he was asked about possible departures, adding: “I don’t talk about these things you know that!”
So far this summer the Reds have managed to recoup more than £70m after sanctioning the exits of Sadio Mane, Neco Williams and Takumi Minamino, amongst others.
Another highly-rated youngster added to Anfield ranks
The signing of Kaide Gordon in early 2021 was made with very much the future in mind. Then just 16, Gordon would go on to make his senior debut in an EFL Cup tie.
Since turning 17 last year he has signed a professional contract and is very much a player who Klopp is keeping tabs on, despite his tender years.
Now, another talented teen has been snapped up by the Reds' recruitment team. Trent Kone-Doherty has penned terms with Liverpool snapping up the 16-year-old from Northern Irish side Derry City. A talented winger described as a 'flying machine', he could well be the next off the club's impressive line of talented youths.
