Liverpool told Man United have a 'better squad' as top four prediction made

Former Welsh international Robbie Savage believes Manchester United have a 'better squad' than Liverpool this season.

A number of pundits have weighed in on the top four race in recent weeks and shared the sides they think will make the cut. After the Reds' poor start to the campaign, some believe they'll struggle to secure Champions League football this term.

Jurgen Klopp 's men are currently seventh in the table after matchday six, six points behind leaders Arsenal and five off rivals Manchester City. United are currently fifth with 12 points after they beat Mikel Arteta's side on Sunday.

Liverpool only managed a 0-0 draw against rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby on Saturday afternoon, meaning they've taken just nine points from a possible 18 in their opening games. They've won twice, drawn three and lost one so far in the league this season.

Despite Arsenal currently leading the way at the top of the table, Savage believes both them and Liverpool will miss out on top four this season, and United will return to the fray after they finished sixth last term.

“Transfer window is closed, right now my top four is Man City, Spurs, Chelsea and Man Utd – no Arsenal, no Liverpool. They’ve transformed and Man Utd have a better squad than Liverpool,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 programme.

However, despite Liverpool's inconsistent start to the season, former United star Gary Neville expects them to come good. In his own predictions for the top four, he expects the Reds to join Man City and Tottenham in the Champions League places and he was far more cautious with United's expectations despite their improved form.

Liverpool are next in league action at the weekend with a home game against Wolves, while Erik ten Hag's side face a tough away at Crystal Palace. New signing Antony got off the mark in his debut for the Manchester club on Sunday, as he scored the opening goal in their 3-1 win against the Gunners.
