Liverpool told Darwin Nunez will unleash tactical ploy that has been missing for 'years'

Darwin Nunez will give Liverpool an 'extra dimension' after the Uruguayan striker was signed by Jurgen Klopp as a Sadio Mane replacement earlier in June. Nunez cam off the bench to score as Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-1 in the Community Shield on Saturday.

Former Chelsea and Benfica defender Scott Minto took to TalkSPORT to talk about the impact Nunez will have on the Liverpool side after putting in a performance that troubled the City backline on Saturday afternoon. Nunez won the penalty for Mohamed Salah to score and then finished the game off himself with a header.

Liverpool will play for the first time with an out-and-out striker under Klopp once Nunez secures his place in the starting XI and Minto believes the forward has 'everything'.

With Salah signing a new contract to extend his stay at Anfield and Luis Diaz settling further into life at Anfield after a January move, Klopp could deploy a new-look forward line with Nunez when Liverpool take on Fulham on Saturday in their first game in the new Premier League season.

“Nunez is not just a typical No.9,” Minto said on TalkSPORT. “He can work the channels, he can drop in, he can play on the left, although he’s got a big physique.

“Technically, he’s got absolutely everything and if you stick the balls in the box, which is something Liverpool haven’t been able to do over the last couple of years, he will get on the end of that, as well. That’s where the extra dimension is.”
