Alexander Isak has admitted that Newcastle United players 'love' the idea that they are up against the world as they look to use that siege mentality to their 'advantage'.
There has certainly been a change of narrative since the takeover as Newcastle bid to upset the established order in the years to come. Domestic sides have been less willing to do business with Newcastle than they were in the Ashley era while Eddie Howe even went as far as to say that clubs will 'put the price up' when the Magpies come calling.
On the field, meanwhile, Newcastle players and staff were booed off by Liverpool supporters at Anfield last month after frustrating and upsetting the hosts for large periods during the 2-1 defeat. In a way, that showed how far Newcastle had come.

Howe revealed that there was a 'real feeling of us internally knowing we are against everybody else' and Dan Burn, echoing the head coach last week, went as far as to say it was 'us against the world'. Howe has wanted to create that mentality within the group but, in truth, the Newcastle boss has not had to force it as even a recent arrival like Isak has noticed.
"I've been here a really short time, but you can see that the squad are fighters and we love that people think like that," he told NUFC TV when asked about an us and them mentality. "It gives us energy. We can use that to our advantage."
