Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is ruled out for their clash against Newcastle United later this month. The Uruguayan was sent off in the 57th-minute of the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.
On his first start at Anfield, a moment of madness saw Nunez headbutt Palace defender Joachim Andersen with the scoreline at 0-1. Moments later, 10-man Liverpool had equalised through Columbian sensation Luiz Diaz.
Newcastle had been linked with the 23-year-old before his £85million move to Liverpool. A stellar campaign for Benfica - where he bagged 26 games in 28 games - saw him become one of the hottest prospects in European football.

It is no secret that the Magpies are looking to strengthen their frontline but cannot compete with the Premier League superpowers just yet. Nunez bagged on his Premier League debut to help Jurgen Klopp’s men rescue a point against Fulham.
However, he can not add to his tally until September 3 - the Merseyside derby - as he will serve a three-match suspension. This rules him out of the clash against Newcastle on August 31, as well as games against Manchester United and Bournemouth.
