Liverpool star fires cryptic four-word message to Levi Colwill as Chelsea transfer stance clear

Harvey Elliot has added flame to the fire surrounding talk of Liverpool making a summer transfer move for Levi Colwill with a cryptic four-message to the Chelsea star.

The England duo are yet to return to pre-season with their respective clubs due to their participation in the Under-21 European Championships with the young Three Lions sealing a spot in the final against Spain following a 3-0 win over Israel on Wednesday.

Colwill has featured in four of the five games England have played at the tournament with Lee Carsley's men yet to concede a goal. Strikes from Morgan Gibbs-White, Cole Palmer and Cameron Archer helped England seal a place in the final in style with Chelsea star Noni Madueke coming off the bench to see the win through having played a starring role in the group stage win over Germany.

Celebrating their latest victory, Colwill posted to Instagram with several pictures of him in action accompanied by the caption, "One last push! Onto the final". Elliot then promptly responded to the post with a comment that said, "let's have a chat, *laughing face emoji*. However, the reply was soon deleted and replaced with the 20-year-old saying, "some player".

Colwill's superb 2022/23 campaign on loan at Brighton saw the Seagulls try to bring him back on a permanent basis, but Chelsea have no intention to let him depart. A new bumper contract is now in the works for Colwill, however he is in no rush to sign an extension and is said to want first-team assurances from Pochettino before doing so.

Despite Chelsea's certain transfer stance, Liverpool remain interested in Colwill, football.london understands. Approaches have also been made in the last few weeks over a potential transfer, but no concrete bids have been sent.

Colwill will return to Cobham following the conclusion of the European championships with the final for England set to be contested on Sunday. The young defender will then sit down with Pochettino to discuss what lies ahead as he looks set to compete with a spot in the Chelsea back line against Benoit Badiashile.

Alongside Elliot's subtle transfer hint, an image has resurfaced showing Colwill wearing a Liverpool shirt from when he was a child.
