Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch was a not a conventional player and it appears he has extended that into his post-retirement career when talking about his old club.
Crouch scored 42 times in the red of Liverpool from 2005 to 2008 and is still held in high esteem at Anfield as his recent appearances for their Legends team attests.
But the one-time England international has thrown Arne Slot's side a bit of a curveball with his suggestions for who they should target during the summer transfer window.
Peter Crouch tips unlikely Liverpool transfer option
The Reds face a dearth of striker options with Hugo Ekitike already confirmed for a lengthy injury lay-off while record signing Alexander Isak is still struggling for form.
Crouch believes the solution to the Premier League champions' issues in attack lies in a left-field move for Barcelona's evergreen striker Robert Lewandowski.

Now 37, the frontman will be available as a free agent at the end of this season as a glittering four-year chapter at the Camp Nou is set to finally come to an end.
Since making the move to Catalonia, Lewandowski has scored 118 times in 188 appearances and is closing on his third La Liga title in the space of four seasons
“It’s a decent move for Liverpool," said Crouch. "He’s a world-class player. He’s not getting any younger but it would be a fantastic option.
"They’ve been miles off the title challenge this season, so they’re going to have to make some signings but they can’t keep spending the way they did last summer.”
Lewandowski's form has tailed off somewhat this season with just 17 goals from 42 appearances, his lowest return since linking up with Hansi Flick's side in 2022.

His cumulative tally across spells with the Spanish champions-elect, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund is still highly prolific with 565 goals scored in 750 outings.
Lewandowski also boasts a proven track record with 10 Bundesliga titles and a Champions League in his medal haul as well as soon-to-be seven honours with Barca.
