Liverpool signing makes 'tough' transfer admission and reveals advice from famous dad

Liverpool starlet Bobby Clark has explained how he is settling into life on Merseyside - and has revealed the advice he received from his father.

The Reds signed the talented teenager from Newcastle United in August 2021. At the age of 16, the forward arrived with plenty of promise from his performances on Tyneside.

And in February this year, Clark signed his first professional contract with the club, soon after he turned 17. He has now become a key player for Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s Under-18 side this season.

Clark was handed his senior debut as a late substitute in Liverpool’s 9-0 win over Bournemouth in August. A few months later, his first start would come in the Carabao Cup win over Derby County in November.

Reflecting on the decision to leave his hometown club, Clark admits it was difficult but says he is beginning to settle into life on Merseyside.

"Obviously it was tough moving from my hometown at the start but I've settled in really well now,” Clark told Liverpoolfc.com . "I came here and I've been given opportunities already, which I'm grateful for. Hopefully I can carry on getting them."

When asked for his memories of his debuts in a Liverpool shirt, Clark added: "I came on when it was about 8-0, so no pressure! I think about it all the time really because it was a dream come true.

"For about five hours before the [Derby] game, I was just so excited. I couldn't wait to step out at Anfield."

Clark is the son of Lee Clark, who scored 27 goals in 240 appearances for Newcastle United before going on to play for Sunderland and Fulham. And the Liverpool youngster has explained the advice that his dad has given to him.

"He tells me when I need telling – what I need to do to improve,” said the Liverpool youngster. “When I'm doing well, he's there to tell me that as well. He was buzzing [with my debut] – he said it was the best feeling he's ever had."
