Almost four years ago, Liverpool signed a midfielder from AS Monaco with bags of potential to fulfil. The Reds paid around £40m for his services and announced his signature just days after losing the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kyiv.
Fabinho was the player in question. The Brazilian made the switch to Merseyside in 2018 but spent his first few months on the bench before becoming a regular starter as the winter period commenced.
Jurgen Klopp was keen to present him with time to develop behind the scenes. Fabinho was tasked with learning a new position and a new system, having previously operated as part of a midfield two in Ligue 1.
