Liverpool sent Levi Colwill transfer message as Chelsea ace stars in England U21 triumph

Noni Madueke has hinted that team-mate Levi Colwill will be staying with Chelsea despite interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Blues’ academy graduate enjoyed a stellar season on-loan at Brighton last term and is now expected to challenge for a role in the Chelsea first-team. Kalidou Koulibaly and Cesar Azpilicueta have both left Stamford Bridge, whilst Trevoh Chalobah could also follow them out of the exit door.

That could potentially open up an opportunity for fellow academy graduate Colwill. Amid that exodus from West London, a number of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals were reportedly aiming to take advantage. Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with moves for the young defender.

However, it appears his future remains at Stamford Bridge. In the aftermath of England under-21’s Euros victory against Spain, Colwill went live on Instagram.

He gave Chelsea team-mate Noni Madueke some time on screen. As he approached the former PSV star, Colwill said: “What you got to say brother?”

Madueke then replied: “Come on man. Hey, listen. We’re both coming back. He isn’t going. Listen. I will make sure he comes back, you get it?”

Colwill, 20, has yet to make his senior debut for Chelsea having been with the club throughout his early career. He has two years left to run on his contract with the Blues.

Meanwhile, Noni Madueke will be aiming to enjoy a positive first full campaign as a blue. He arrived at Stamford Bridge from PSV in January for a £29m fee. The 21-year-old made 12 appearances before the end of the 2022/23 campaign, scoring just once.

New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino had revealed that he had already held talks with both players ahead of Saturday’s final against Spain. Speaking in his introductory press conference, he said: “Yes, we spoke yesterday [Thursday] with Levi and Noni.

“One I know – Noni – from Tottenham, he was in the Under-18s. And of course Levi I know but I introduced myself with him.

“I wish all the best for tomorrow [in Euro U21 final]. It’s true that for me it’s difficult because it’s Spain vs England, but I wish them all the best.

“I think we are waiting for them to be with the team. I think the day that we will fly to America, they will join us.”

Colwill made 22 appearances in all competitions for Brighton last season as they secured their spot in Europe for the first time ever. The Seagulls are set to play in the Europa League next term.
