Liverpool had scouts present in the second division of German football football to cast an eye over Hamburg centre half Mario Vuskovic, according to a report from Bild.
Premier League club Wolves also hold an interest in the Croatian defender, who is highly rated. Vuskovic signed for Hamburg following a two-season loan spell from Hajduk Split.
Hamburg missed out on promotion back to the Bundesliga last season after losing in the play-offs. The 20-year-old, according to the report, has now been watched by Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp is blessed with choosing out of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, but top clubs are always on the lookout for talented youngsters that can be added to their ranks.
The addition of Konate at Liverpool has been a masterstroke by Klopp. The Frenchman was the clubs only summer signing last year and he played a huge role in the Reds winning two trophies last term.
It remains to be seen whether Klopp will make a move for the Hamburg young defender, but Liverpool are always at ways they can stay ahead of their rivals.
