Liverpool's Paddy Pimblett makes Anfield promise ahead of UFC return

It's been a simply incredible six months for Liverpool MMA fighter Paddy Pimblett, who has become an immediate superstar since his UFC debut.

The UFC officially announced a return to London last week with a Fight Night being held at London's O2 Arena on March 19 - which Liverpool fan Pimblett will be a part of.

It's just Pimblett's second fight in the UFC in his return to action after he burst and onto the scene last year, executing a incredible first fight with a victory over Luigi Vendramini.

And he'll now be looking to make a real statement in London when he faces Rodrigo 'Kazula' Vargas. But Pimblett's ultimate goal is fighting at Anfield.

A huge Liverpool supporter, Pimblett talks about his beloved team whenever he's got the opportunity to and 'the Baddy' spoke to the ECHO about the Reds' Premier League title chances after the January window.

Jurgen Klopp's men left it late but were able to bring in a marquee signing in Colombian Luis Diaz, who joined for £49million from Porto.

Pimblett told the ECHO: "Great stuff - can't go wrong with that! We needed another attacker to add some depth to add to the front four - which is now a front five.

"But at the same it's just a bit worrying because (Sadio) Mane or (Roberto) Firmino could go at the end of the season."

Liverpool trail Manchester City by nine points in the title race but have a game in hand and Pimblett is confident the Reds remain very much in the picture.

He said: "I've been saying we're gonna win the league. We'll beat City at the Etihad, I reckon Frank (Lampard) will get some points off Man City when they play Everton."

After he joined the UFC, he promised his fans that he'll one day bring the event to Anfield.

While Pimblett isn't thinking about doing so any time soon - taking it one fight at a time and looking to rack up a few impressive wins - he's targeting a fight at Liverpool's home in a few years.

He said: "I will fill Anfield out. We will be doing Anfield - 100%. It goes without saying, Anfield's getting done. One July it's happening, I promise you!"
