Liverpool's Nat Phillips suffers further unrest as he sits out Bournemouth's dramatic win

Liverpool had a day to remember on Sunday, by lifting the League Cup after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Chelsea.

The game finished 0-0 after 90 minutes and then extra-time, with Liverpool eventually sealing a dramatic 11-10 win on spot-kicks.

Chelsea sub goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga blazed over the deciding kick to hand Jurgen Klopp's side the first piece of major silverware this season.

Away from Anfield, the weekend saw a mixed bag for their clutch of players out on loan away from the club.

Here, we look at the six players who are on temporary deals at EFL clubs and see how they got on at the weekend.

Will Liverpool lift this season's Premier League title? Let us know in the comments

Neco Williams

Welshman Williams has played his part in helping Fulham solidify their automatic promotion hopes.

He made a sixth straight start on Saturday as the Cottagers marched on with a 1-0 win at Cardiff.

Williams, who played 78 minutes, was generally solid at the back and made a total of four tackles in a game where Fulham bossed two-thirds of the ball.

Nat Phillips

Phillips has had a mixed bag since arriving at Championship high-fliers Bournemouth in January.

He has been part of a team dumped out by non-league opposition in the FA Cup, helped the team bounce back with successive wins and even featured as an emergency striker!

Saturday saw Phillips sit out the dramatic win over Stoke City as he was unwell.

It was a thrilling game for the Cherries, who trailed 1-0 against ten men up until the 82nd minute. Then, Dominic Solanke and Jamal Lowe both struck to turn the game on its head.

Phillips will be hoping to get over his illness quickly and return to the side for next weekend's fixture with Preston.

Ben Davies

It has been a strange few days for Davies. Last week he came off the bench for Sheffield United in the dyeing embers of their game with Blackburn and popped up with a late winner that sent Bramall Lane crazy.

But on Saturday he had to be content with another place on the bench as United lost 1-0 to Millwall.

Blades' boss Paul Heckingbottom chose to hand a league debut to rookie defender Kyron Gordon rather than opt for Davies, who was an unused sub at the Den.

He said of the decision: "We went with him (Gordon) instead of Ben who has the experience - he was one of four academy graduates today and they're important when we're stretched because of injuries and suspensions."

Sepp van den Berg

The Dutchman has enjoyed the most regular action out of all Liverpool's contingent of loan players and Saturday saw him play the full game in Preston's enthralling trip to Coventry.

A drama-soaked match ended 1-1 with Fabio Tavares' goal deep into stoppage time cancelling out Daniel Johnson's penalty in a game that saw both teams finish a man light.

As for van den Berg, he stood out as he put in a series of fine blocks and defended strongly. Unfortunately, there was little he or any of his colleagues could do to keep out Tavares' late, late effort.

Jake Cain and Paul Glatzel

Saturday saw Cain's Newport host Glatzel's Tranmere. Cain came off the bench on 36 minutes and aided County as they sealed a thrilling 4-2 win to maintain their League Two play-off push.

The game was 0-0 when he entered the field and he more than played his part in a deserved win.

As for Glatzel, he once again missed out for Tranmere - the fourth game in a row he's sat out with a hamstring injury.
