Eight became seven in this week of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
The BBC reality competition sees drag queens up and down the country compete against one another in a bid to be crowned the UK’s next Drag Race superstar. Currently, as it stands, Liverpool’s own Danny Beard is the frontrunner having just won her third maxi-challenge and RuPeter badge.
After delivering a comedic performance as the eponymous character in Lairy Poppins, a parody of Mary Poppins, the 29-year-old self-proclaimed “sassy, shady, singing cartoon clown” was in the perfect position to be named this week's challenge winner. And after walking down the main stage as a larger-of-life version of Audrey II, the plant from Rocky Horror Picture Show, it was clear to see Danny, from Halewood, was about to secure another win under her belt.

RuPaul told the Manchester Canal Street performer: “You brought something more than what was just on the script, it was so magical, that is what stars do.” Michelle Visage added: “You just went full Danny Beard and it worked, I couldn’t stop watching you.”
Fans took to social to echo a similar sentiment to that of the judges. @Abugaile said: “Danny Beard is iconic.” @emsthetwin penned: “I love Danny beard’s drag race, this is just immaculate.” @NosiphoL__ Tweeted: “Danny Beard is becoming my new favourite queen I really underestimated her but I get it now.”
If Danny Beard makes it to the final and wins the competition overall, she would be the second Scouser in four seasons to do, with former Pride Quarter DJ The Vivienne being the first-ever winner of the UK franchise.
Baby, a 25-year-old from London, became the fifth queen to sashay away from the competition. She found herself in the bottom two, facing Dakota Schiffer, as they both lip-synced for their lives to No Way from SIX: The Musical. As the energetic lip sync battle drew to an end, Baby raised her hand to tell RuPaul that she had made the decision to leave the competition, saying: “I’m extremely grateful for being here but I think, I need to go home and take care of myself.”
The remaining seven queens go forward to next week as they continue in their battle. RuPaul’s Drag Race UK returns on Thursday, October 27 from 9 pm on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
